National Museum of American Jewish History Cultural Heritage Internship Program

Intern Class 2019 (2)

The National Museum of American Jewish History is a leading cultural institution with a vibrant internship program for undergraduate and graduate students who want to learn about public history, the museum profession, non-profit organizations, and the American Jewish experience. In addition, we collaborate with other cultural institutions to provide varied experiences. Interns may be placed in one of the museum departments or with a collaborative institution. All interns participate in periodic group activities including a two-hour weekly summer seminar.

Our collaborations include the following Philadelphia cultural institutions: Carpenter Hall (Job Description to Follow), The Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival, the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, and the Society Hill Synagogue. Titles and descriptions of internship programs both at NMAJH and other cultural institutions can be found here.

Applications for all internship programs must be made through our application here. The NMAJH academic liaison is responsible for processing and referring applicants as required. For summer internships, a weekly commitment of 35-40 hours is required. For fall and spring internships, a minimum weekly commitment of 8 hours is required.

Applicants for summer internships are strongly advised to apply no later than March 31. If feasible, offer letters are sent by April 15. Applications for fall and spring internships are accepted on a rolling basis.
